Our Story
Tinker Tailor is a creation shaped by a devotion to craft, ritual, and balance, formed slowly and deliberately over time. It is the meeting point of hands, history, and intention, brought to life by a mother and daughter working side by side.
Set on a beautiful farm north of Perth, our working days unfold around our pottery studio that looks out over trees and open land. It’s here, in this quiet rhythm, that Tinker Tailor takes shape — influenced as much by the landscape as by a deep desire to make things well, and to make them with care.
Sarah works at the wheel, shaping each ceramic piece by hand. Her approach is grounded and intuitive, guided by form, function, and the quiet conversation between clay and maker. From there, each piece moves into the hands of Alex, where glazing becomes a kind of alchemy — layers of colour, texture, and finish explored through instinct, experimentation, and feel. Together, our work is fluid and collaborative, with every piece carrying the unmistakable marks of both hands.
Before Tinker Tailor, we spent years working together in fast-paced, demanding environments. Those experiences shaped us deeply, but they also clarified what we were longing for — a slower, more considered way of living and creating. Tinker Tailor grew from that shift: a conscious choice to step into balance, presence, and the small rituals that sustain us.
That philosophy extends far beyond ceramics. We’re drawn to everyday practices that feel grounding and nourishing — cacao stirred slowly, botanicals blended with intention, tea brewed with care, and moments made meaningful through repetition and attention. These rituals inform everything we create, from apothecary blends to pantry offerings.
And like most girls, we share a deep love of coffee.
That love found its way into Franklin — our beautifully restored 1960s caravan, transformed into a bright red travelling coffee van. Franklin is a celebration of contrast and juxtaposition: old and new, nostalgia and precision. From the outside, he carries history and charm; inside, he’s fitted with top-of-the-line brewing equipment, pouring exceptional coffee wherever he goes.
Franklin travels to weddings, private events, and farmers’ markets — places where people gather, conversations unfold, and rituals are shared. He’s as much about connection as he is about coffee, and we love that he brings people together in unexpected spaces.
At the heart of Tinker Tailor is a commitment to slower living.
To making things by hand.
To creating small rituals that anchor the day.
Everything we do — from ceramics and apothecary blends to cacao, tea, and coffee — is shaped by that philosophy. Crafted with intention. Made to be used. Designed to become part of your everyday life.
From our family to yours — welcome to Tinker Tailor. x
